North American/European Warcraft Finals9-3-08

The 2008 North American and European Warcraft Finals will be taking place this weekend, September 6-7. These events will feature the top eight qualifiers from the 2008 World of Warcraft Arena and Warcraft III tournaments for their respective regions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to try out demos of Wrath of the Lich King and StarCraft II on-site. Admission is free, so come by and check it out if you’re in the area. Details for each event can be found below. The map pool for Warcraft III for both events, including the four winning maps from the Warcraft III Melee Map Contest, is as follows:

North America
The North American Warcraft Final will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, Massachusetts, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m.

Korean Warcraft Final Winners9-03-08
We're glad to announce the winners of the 2008 Korean Warcraft Final. The top two Arena teams and top three Warcraft III players all demonstrated their excellent gaming skills this weekend, rising above an elite field of competitors to claim the top spots in the tournament.

World of Warcraft

1. H O N (rogue, mage, priest)
2. 호드발컨들을 설레게 하는 와갤형들 a.k.a. Council of Mages (rogue, mage, priest)

These two rogue, mage, priest teams were able to dominate the field and come out on top. Council of Mages was the winner of the Arena tournament at the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational in Paris and wanted to continue showcasing their skills at this event. But H O N would not be deterred and was able to sweep Council 3-0 in the upper bracket final and grand final to secure the top spot and $15,000 first-place prize. Council’s second-place finish will give them their chance for redemption at the global final at BlizzCon.

Warcraft III

In a field full of night elf players, two of the best qualified for spots in the global final. Check faced Lyn in the upper bracket final and was defeated 2-0, dropping into the lower bracket. He managed to fight his way back into the grand final by defeating ReMind in the lower bracket to engage in a six-game-marathon with Lyn. They played two best-of-three series that went the distance with Check coming out on top 2-1, 2-1 to claim the top prize of $5,000.

Each of the qualifying teams and players will be invited to participate in the global final at BlizzCon for a chance to further showcase their skills, win more cash prizes, and compete against the other top regional teams and players. Korean Warcraft Final - August 30-318-28-08
The 2008 Korean Warcraft Final will be taking place this weekend, August 30-31, in Seoul Korea. This event will feature the top eight qualifiers from the 2008 World of Warcraft Arena and Warcraft III tournaments. The quarter and semifinals will be played at the Ubiquitous IGR in Seoul. The upper bracket, lower bracket, and grand finals will be played at the GOMTV studio in Mokdong, Seoul.

North American Regional Final – September 6-78-11-08
The 2008 World of Warcraft and Warcraft III North American regional finals will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, Massachusetts on the weekend of September 6-7. Taiwan Regional Final Winners8-06-08
We’re glad to announce the winners of the Taiwan regional final of the 2008 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament. These two teams demonstrated their Arena combat expertise this weekend, rising above an elite field of competitors to claim the top spots in the tournament.

1. 海軍陸戰隊 (warlock, warrior, druid)
2. Made In Taiwan (priest, warrior, druid)

Made In Taiwan may be familiar from its strong showing at the Worldwide Invitational 2008 in Paris, and was able to mount a comeback after being down 0-2 to win the first series of the regional finals. 海軍陸戰隊 however, was able to take control of the final series, winning it 3-0 and walking away with the $15,000 first-place prize.

Each team will also be invited to participate in the global final at BlizzCon for a chance to further showcase their skills, win cash prizes, and compete against the other top regional teams. Taiwan Regional Final – August 2-37-30-08

The 2008 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament Taiwan Regional Final will be taking place this weekend, August 2-3, at the World Trade Center in Taipei, Taiwan. This event will feature the top eight teams who advanced from the online qualifiers. The eight teams that will be competing are:

  • 小嵐洛 (priest, rogue, mage)
  • 黑貓是白目 (warrior, rogue, druid)

Arena Tournament Second Qualification Round Concludes7-15-08

After several weeks of intense competition, the 2008 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament's second qualification round has come to an end. The qualifying teams from the second qualifier will join those from the first to face off in their respective regional finals. Arena Tournament Qualifier 1 Global Winners Breakdown7-7-08

After weeks of fierce competition, the winners of the 2008 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament's first qualification round have been determined. The following teams represent half of the field competing at the live regional events that will be held in the following months.

North America

Set to compete at the North American regional final in Boston, Massachusetts will be Dude I got it on Fraps, duelists going for glad, Frag Dominant, and Dynamo Gaming.

Rankings and primary lineups for each team:

  1. Dude I got it on Fraps: shaman, warlock, and priest
  2. Duelists going for glad: rogue, mage, and priest
  3. Frag Dominant: rogue, warlock, and druid
  4. Dynamo Gaming: warrior, warlock, and druid

Dynamo Gaming was actually tied for fourth place with gc and his dad; the two teams competed in a special playoff for the final qualifier spot. Dynamo Gaming fell behind early by losing the first game, but came storming back to win the next three to beat gc and his dad in a mirror match and earn the right to advance to the live regional.

Europe

Competing at the European regional final in Madrid, Spain will be HERCULES, Sapped cows can't say moo, Improved Clicks, and Pure Cartoons.

  1. HERCULES: warrior, rogue, and druid
  2. Sapped cows can't say moo: rogue, mage and druid
  3. Improved Clicks: warrior, druid and priest

Korea

The Korean regional final in Seoul, South Korea will host a battle between sjkegrter, Council of Mages, 오덕후삼인방, and Arena Champion.
