We’re glad that you’ve decided to play again! We’re here to make your return simple and straightforward. Let’s get started.
Before you start playing the latest expansion’s content, make sure to create room for your new shiny loot! Store any items you're not going to immediately need in your bank. You can also click on your bag's icons to assign each of them as a preferred space when collecting gear, crafting materials or trade goods, that way the items you collect will end up exactly where you expect them to. Simple!
The talent system has been completely redesigned to make talents more fun and meaningful. Take a look at our talent calculator to see how it all works. In-game, you can also change individual talents on the fly at any time without having to visit a class trainer as long as you are in a city or Inn.
Special items are also available that allow talent swapping on the field. Those can be crafted with the Inscription profession or bought at the Auction House.
Loot distribution in dungeon and raid groups now use the Personal loot system. A party or raid with personal loot will grant each participant present for a boss kill a chance to automatically receive an item that’s appropriate for their class and specialization.
Items now allow different class specializations to benefit from the same gear. You may see, for example, a Plate helm that has both Strength and Intellect. Such an item is useful for any Paladin. Holy Paladins will benefit from the Intellect, but not the Strength, and vice-versa for Protection and Retribution.
Previously content to sit by your side and look cute, the companions you’ve collected can now compete in the Pet Battle system. You can level your pets up to engage in combat with other players’ pets, and you can even sell your pets to others.
You’re now able to customize the look of your character through Transmogrification. By visiting an NPC, you can pay a small fee to change the appearance of your armor and weapons to those of another item in your Wardrobe, while still retaining the worn item’s stats.
